R. Vasquez - Orlando, FL

Dear Chef LaLa,

I just wanted to share a story with you regarding your Chef LaLa Homemade Carne Asada Marinade. My 99 year-old Spanish grandmother passed away last week and I flew to Orlando, Florida, to be there for my mother and help out any way that I could. My grandma, whom we affectionately referred to as “Mama,” was a wonderful matriarch and had many friends. One of the responsibilities my mother gave me was to take care of the flowers and food at the funeral and at the family gathering that we held at my mother’s house after the service.

I did not have much time to prepare, and I knew we were expecting over 40 people at my mother’s house that I would have to cater to. So, I went to the local meat dealer (Petty’s) and asked the butcher to cut about 20 pounds of beef short ribs, marbled flank style, and I also purchased four bottles of your Carne Asada marinade. I marinated the meat overnight in the fridge with your sauce, half a bottle of Coca Cola, and some basic seasoning. I put the meat in the oven around 6 AM, at 250 degrees, and let them slow cook before serving them in the afternoon with baked potatoes and vegetables after the funeral.

I can’t thank you enough for all the praise that I got for those ribs. They fell off the bone, and were absolutely delectable and the highlight of the meal. Thank you for putting such a wonderful product out there that enhances the taste of food so much. It turned the focus from a sad day to the wonderful food. Nobody knows more than you that this is a big deal in a Latin family!
